Happy Valley neighbours can enjoy a month-long French bistro adventure without leaving their local Italian trattoria. Throughout October 2025, À Poêle French Bistro takes up residence at Ask for Alonzo's Happy Valley location, creating a unique dining experience that blends Italian warmth with French culinary traditions.
From 1 to 31 October, every evening from 5:00 pm onwards, diners can explore classic French bistro dishes prepared with the same care that has made À Poêle a Quarry Bay favourite. This collaboration brings two beloved Deadly Rabbits Concepts venues together, offering Happy Valley residents a taste of authentic French cooking without the journey across the harbour.
Classic French Bistro in Familiar Surroundings
The two-course set dinner for HK$298 showcases French bistro essentials that have defined the genre for generations. Start with choices like Signature French Onion Soup with Gruyère cheese and chive, Beef Tartare with grilled bread, or Stuffed Eggs with mayo, truffle, and chive—each dish representing the honest, flavour-focused approach that makes French bistro cooking so enduring.
Main courses deliver the comfort that defines French dining, from Beef Cheek Bourguignon with button mushrooms and mashed potato to Duck Confit with puy lentils and veal jus. The menu also features Steak Frites with French fries and garlic butter, Steamed Mussels with white wine and butter, and Mushroom Risotto with parmesan and truffle oil. Each preparation demonstrates how French techniques transform simple ingredients into memorable meals.
Chocolate Mousse provides the sweet conclusion, whilst carefully selected French wines—including Maison Mollex 'Apremont' from Vin de Savoie and Chateau Labatut 2023 Bordeaux—complement the flavours throughout the evening.
